All About Furniture

A few weeks ago I mentioned that we ordered a new bookcase for Chloe. I didn't want her room to get too cluttered, so I had my eye on an acrylic one from Land of Nod.

Here's the bookcase from Land of Nod's website

And here it is in Chloe's room
I think it works great and now we're ready to fill it with books.

Of course Connor thinks he now needs something new for his room, but I think he can live without.

I've been getting a few pieces of furniture for the house lately and one of the perks of working at Wisteria is getting advice from our Creative Director. I wanted to create a reading nook for our bedroom and she recommended a chair from our outlet store. When I went to the outlet, I came home with all of the pieces in the picture below.
I think we're going to add a floor lamp behind the chair to complete the space.

For my Dallas friends, I want to let you know the outlet store is having a big sale next week through Saturday 3/5.
There are several of the gray hide poufs that I used in our reading nook still at the outlet store. They are 30% off, but next week you get an additional 20% off on top of the 30%.

Another example is the Golden Key Console. Below are pictures from the website since I could never shoot anything as good as this.
This console retails for $999. At the outlet they have a few where the trim color was inconsistent. The console is 70% off and during the sale you get another 20% off so it only costs $199. This deal is better than my employee discount, so I got a console for our house.

There are lots of great deals like this at the outlet and they have a ton of mirrors and wall art as well. If you're needing a few things for your home, I recommend planning a trip to the Wisteria Outlet.

And now for some gratuitous pictures of my kids since the real purpose of this blog is to keep the family and friends updated. This week the Creature Teacher came to the school.

Chloe & Connor got to pet the Kangaroo
Connor loved the visit from the kangaroo and wrote about it in his daily journal

Lucky Mommy

Six-years-old is a great age with the twins.

One thing that has been really fun is that their school will send me updates during the day of what they're doing. Last week was pretty good.

They were both studying science:
Connor learning about what's in the dirt
Viewing with different colored lens

Sometime the school asks us to send "mailbox notes" that they give to the kids during the day. I love this picture where Connor has his note from me. I think the heart sticker made it a hit.

Chloe is really loving reading. Here she's picking out the words she recognizes in the newspaper. The other night we had fun reading a few books together so I've ordered a bookcase just for her room.

I've had my eye on one from Land Of Nod for awhile, hoping it would go on sale, but after all the interest in reading I figured it was something we could splurge on. I'll post pictures when we have it set up in her room.

Not only is school fun, but we've had lovely weekends as well. A playdate with friends after ballet.

Valentines cooking with GiGi. It was very tasty, so ultimately worth the onion tears.

Carl and I decided to take Monday off so we could have a 3-day weekend as a family. The weather was wonderful and we spent a lovely morning at the Fort Worth Zoo.

I love how the meerkat looks like he's leaning back to get in the picture. He was pretty in tune with the crowd so that might actually be what he's doing.

We had such a good time at the zoo that it inspired 2 hours of playing zoo keeper when we got home.

I'm a lucky Mommy!

Straight Logic

This past weekend I introduced Chloe to the idea of having "the Sundays." We'd had a lovely, unseasonably warm weekend, culminating in a family dinner out on a patio with a grassy courtyard for the kids to play in.

When we got home it settled in on all of us that the next day was a school/work day. Chloe said she wasn't feeling happy or "boude" as Carl and his Louisiana family say it. I told her it was a common feeling sometimes called "the Sundays."

But then, last night and tonight, as we got closer to bedtime, she told me she had The Sundays. Tonight I told her she couldn't have The Sundays since it wasn't Sunday. She looked at me dumbfounded and asked why not. I told her it wasn't Sunday it was Tuesday.

So she told me she had The Tuesdays.

Me too.
