A Visit With C. Franklin

Yesterday at school, the Science Lady came to tell the kids about vertebrates and she brought C. Franklin, the corn snake.

The twins loved it. Their teacher, Miss Toni, said most of the kids were timid about the snake, but both Chloe and Connor sat right up front and were excited to get to hold the snake.

I'm worried about what this means for the variety of pets we may have in our future.

Swim Season

We're so lucky we have a pool. I'm am worried about safety so we have a fence around the pool, but I'm trying to enjoy it more than worry about it. As the kids get older, that's a little easier.

Frequently when we swim, we need our sunglasses. Wearing them upside-down is optional.

We have a shelf in the pool that's a great place for the kids to play. Connor started a game where he acts like one of the jets is pulling him backwards and he yells, "help, help, the robot!" Then Chloe will grab his hand and pull him back. It's just silly play, but when Chloe is the one asking for help to be saved from the robot, she sounds so sincere, I look closely to make sure there's no robot in the pool.

And when we want a break from swimming there's always the sandbox. Endless summer fun in our own backyard!

Favorites from the Fourth

On the fourth of July we had family over, we grilled, most swam, and we all had a good time. (Except baby Lola was fussy almost the entire time and I feel bad for both her and her Mommy)

In the meantime...

Connor helped KiKi make a healthy potato salad. Honestly, KiKi will need to come over more often if the kids want to learn to cook or make anything.

GiGi, KiKi, and Chloe all having a great time in the pool. It's great to have more helping hands when you have a little mermaid like Chloe.

Connor was very serious about his rock collection. Later he got in the pool and threw the ball with Uncle Martin.

After all this fun, we sat outside in our swimsuits and had grilled kabobs, shrimp cocktail, veggies, and of course healthy potato salad. It was a lovely fourth of July celebration.

Moving On

My Mom had her house on the market for a year. It sold and she moved out a week before last. This was the house my Mom shared with my Dad so it's be very emotional to sell it and move out. It requires a lot of psychical and emotional work to pack up boxes, and memories, not to mention trying to decide what to leave behind.

It was very emotional leading up to the move, but Mom said on her last night in the house she took one last swim in the pool and has a sip of the last of Dad's Drambuie. It sounded like the perfect goodbye to the house they shared together.

Mom hasn't found her next home yet, but there is a good prospect on the  horizon and it's been fun dreaming out the ways we'll make it hers. She's very relieved for the move to be over and positive and excited about the future. With that I probably should have titled this post Moving Forward instead.
