Break Out The Swimsuits

Like most folks, we broke out our swimsuits this weekend. For the first wear the kids didn't even go into the pool.

When we came home Friday evening, our neighbors were playing in the sprinkler in their front yard. They have two girls, Ashley, who was born a few weeks after the twins and six-year-old Alexa. The girls are super sweet and the twins love playing with them.

After splashing around in the sprinkler, we had an impromptu picnic of pizza and pasta on the driveway. Frankly, a pretty awesome Friday night.

Concert in the Garden

Last night we headed to the Arboretum's concert in the garden for an awesome Johnny Cash cover band. The concerts on the lawn are always fun, but I always remember them as being really hot. However, I think that might be because of my over planning. I try to go early to find a shady spot, but even if we find shade, it's hot out and it's easy to get over heated. I think it might be better to come right on time or even a few minutes late, sit on the fringes, but stay cooler overall since the sun will be down.

The best part of this concert was that the Arboretum is featuring Chihuly (artist of beautiful glass sculptures) which are even better at night. Below are a few of the night shots. I know Mom and I will go back on another evening, after the sun is down, when we can stroll with a glass of wine and view all of the pieces.

Fun at a Birthday Party

This weekend we were invited to twins Mary and Lily's 3rd birthday party. I have to say it was totally fun for Connor and Chloe, as well as, Carl and I. They had a bounce house that was awesome entertainment and wore the kids out. I plan to steal the bounce house idea for our birthday party this September, but there are a few other things I learned too:
  • Have wipes and kleenex on several tables easy to get to, all the kids seem to have runny noses now and get dirty hands pretty quickly
  • Chick-Fil-A chicken nuggets are a huge hit with both kids and parents
  • Cupcakes are definitely easier than cake. It's nice to have two sizes of cupcakes, but don't ever try to replace a large cupcake with a smaller one
  • Juice boxes for the kids and wine/beer for the parents = a successful party

  • Mary and Lily's Dad, Paul, in front of their princess bounce house

Singing Happy Birthday!

Good Morning Texas

As most of you know, I've been working with the YW lately. They are an awesome client and our amazing PR team at SparkFarm got the YW a segment on Good Morning Texas last Friday.

Although in my past work life I would never mix personal and professional, for this occasion, it seemed right to bring my kids. My Mom came too, to help me, but we all ended up having a really wonderful time. You can see Chloe clapping enthusiastically, and Connor hanging on to me eating crackers.

They were exhausted after the exciting morning and Chloe ended up resting on one of our PR gurus, Jake. They're too cute together!
